Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation

Franciscan Hospital for Children offers rehabilitation services to address the unique needs of children with traumatic brain injuries (TBI). A TBI dramatically impacts a person’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social abilities. Our interdisciplinary treatment team works together to offer a wide range of rehabilitation services so that the child can progress to the highest level of functioning possible.

Rehabilitation is focused on helping the child return to home, community, and school or on preparing for an alternative living environment offering supervision, care and continuing treatment. Franciscan Hospital for Children’s caring, experienced staff helps each child increase and maintain functional skills and focuses on the least restrictive level of care.

Our Interdisciplinary Treatment Team

Each patient’s treatment team is personalized to meet the individual needs of the patient and his/her family. The team coordinates an integrated program of medical and rehabilitative care while providing ongoing parent and patient teaching.

Transition Home

From the day the child is referred to Franciscan Hospital, the team begins to plan ahead with the family for discharge. To ensure that the progress made during rehabilitation continues, the rehabilitation team coordinates community support services, including educational, medical, nursing and therapeutic services.
