Local La Carrera Pan Americana Race Participant to Visit Franciscan Hospital for Children

Russell Gee will show off race car to patients and students of the hospital

WHO: Cambridge resident Russell Gee Franciscan Hospital for Children patients and students

WHAT: On just his second attempt, Cambridge businessman, Russell Gee, won his class in the La Carrera Pan Americana Race across Mexico. Gee raced a 1959 Jaguar XK 150in the seven-day, 2000 mile race from Southern Mexico to the Texas border. Inspired by several children he met at Franciscan Hospital for Children, Gee raced to raise funds and awareness for the facility.

Throughout the seven day race, Gee sent the kids daily updates via his Facebook page on the race and his progress. The students followed along tracking Gee’s location and teachers were able to use the opportunity to incorporate the race course into their geography lessons and introduce them to a few Spanish words.

Tomorrow he’ll be visiting to meet with the kids, answer their questions and celebrate his success. He will be bringing a race car, similar to his own for the kids to see and interact with in the hospital parking lot.
