Dear <legislator>, 

 

I am writing to urge you to ask the Governor to make funding Franciscan Hospital for Children a legislative priority. Located in Brighton, MA, and serving 15,000 children each year, Franciscan Hospital for Children is a valuable resource to children and the community. 

 

Some of the services offered at Franciscan, like Pediatric Pulmonary Rehabilitation, are not available elsewhere. 

 

Without these services, children would have to stay at more costly acute care facilities or go home without the opportunity for intensive rehabilitation or family teaching.  Rehabilitation and teaching improves patient outcomes and decreases costs to the healthcare system as a whole.

 

In order to continue offering the breadth of services, Franciscan needs legislative support and funding from the State.  Funding for Franciscan was included in the FY 2010 Appropriations Bill and the FY 2010 Supplemental Budget; the language can be found in H.4181, line item 4000-0700, lines 341-355.
