CAMBRIDGE, Mass., July 30, 2011 – Cambridge Savings Bank has partnered with Franciscan Hospital for Children to raise money and awareness through social media. During the month of August, the Bank will donate $5 to the Hospital for each new “like” to the Cambridge Savings Facebook page, up to the goal of $5,000. Franciscan Hospital for Children, located in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston, is the largest pediatric rehabilitation facility in New England. Programs and services offered address the medical, behavioral and educational needs of children.

Since 1949, Franciscan Hospital for Children has pioneered clinical, therapeutic and educational programs for children with a variety of disabilities. Cambridge Savings Bank was inspired by the Hospital’s work, and since starting a relationship in 2006 has donated almost $85,000. “Social media provides a unique opportunity for us to bring together a community of like-minded people to contribute to and engage with a great organization. To show their support for FHC, all people need to do is click the like button on our page,” said Robert M. Wilson, President and CEO of Cambridge Savings Bank.

Franciscan Hospital for Children and Cambridge Savings Bank encourage people to “like” the Bank’s page by visiting www.facebook.com/cambridgesavings, so that the Bank may make a donation to the Hospital. They also hope that people will spread awareness for the social giving campaign and Franciscan Hospital for Children by engaging their friends on other social media platforms, like Twitter. People can add the hashtag #FHCandCSB to their posts to easily interact with others who are interested in the promotion.

Steven Snyder, Chief Development Officer at Franciscan Hospital for Children, voiced excitement that his organization was included in Cambridge Savings Bank’s entry into community-powered donations. He said, “We’re grateful to have businesses in the community who support our efforts to provide specialized care and education to children and families.  Cambridge Savings has been a strong supporter of the hospital and we’re pleased that the children we serve will benefit from this unique promotion.”
