Mariah’s KDS Graduation

On Thursday, April 25th the gymnasium at the Kennedy Day School (KDS) was buzzing with excitement as staff, students and guests awaited the star of the show. As Pomp and Circumstance began to play, Mariah arrived to her very own KDS graduation ceremony ready to take part in the celebration of her accomplishments during her time as a student.
As any graduation ceremony should, there were many smiles and kind words shared. Mariah laughed as her teachers recalled stories of when she first came to KDS, and how much she had grown and changed since then. Staff members fondly recalled their best memories of her, celebrated her achievements and offered words of support and encouragement as she graduated to the next chapter of her life – confident that she would succeed and make even more friends where she was headed. Even Mariah’s classmates and friends offered their own well-wishes, some showing off the communication skills they had learned through the speech therapy program at KDS and letting Mariah know that she would be missed.
Mariah soaked up the attention, laughing, singing and dancing alongside her teachers and friends. Finally awarded her certificate of completion, Mariah danced her way out of the gym and a reception for KDS community concluded the ceremony. She was the center of it all – which her teachers will tell you is “just like Mariah”.
