Jessica BrownJessica Brown was born on December 23, 1995 a beautiful and healthy girl. In 1999 Jessica was a vibrant and active 3 ½ year old toddler whose life was forever changed in a tragic car accident.

Jessica sustained a serious spinal injury at the C2 vertebrae leaving her a quadriplegic who is ventilator dependant. Despite the many challenges she and her family faced and the rigourous rehabilitation needed, Jessica remained a brave and optimistic girl.  Jessica now 13 years old, is in the 7th grade at the Rupert Anock Middle School in Newburyport.  Jessica has a brother Jacob, 9, and sister Jaden, 4.

Jessica enjoys school and her favorite subject is history. She loves to sing, write children’s stories, and play games on the computer. She is also a huge NASCAR fan and especially likes Tony Stewart. Jessica loves to Google and enjoys animals and babies, and loves the Jonas Brothers. Jessica is looking forward to attending her first concert this July at the TD Banknorth Garden where she will see the Jonas Brothers.

Someday Jessica would like to be married and become a doctor.  As an acknowledgement and tribute to Jessica’s courage and positive attitude, Franciscan Hospital for Children presents her with the Profiles in Children’s Courage Award.
