Kai Leigh Harriot

Kai was sitting on her third floor porch in Dorchester when a stray bullet fractured her vertebrae and punctured her lung, causing her to lose all feeling below her sternum.

After her condition was stabilised at  Boston Medical Center, Kai was admitted to Franciscan Hospital for Children to begin her long road to recovery. Over the four month period, Kai worked with rehabilitation specialists on her treatment team to receive intensive physical and occupational therapy.

All of the team members worked diligently to teach this wonderful three year old how to adjust to life in a wheelchair. Today, Kai is home with her family, thriving in school and doing her favorite things: watching movies, drawing and especially riding her adapted bicycle.
