Jane E. O'Brien, M.D. Chief Medical Director

 

Jane O’Brien MD, Medical Director for the Franciscan Hospital for Children, specializes in complex care and multi-system involvement services, and is responsible for the medical care and integration of services at the Hospital.   Dr. O’Brien is credited with establishing a wide range of innovative services at the Hospital, including an inpatient pulmonary rehabilitation program for technology and ventilator dependent children. 

                                                                                 

Dr. O’Brien also serves as the Director of Complex Care Services, Assistant in Medicine at Children’s Hospital Boston, as well as Consultant in Pediatrics/Genetics at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton.  She is ABMS board certified in Pediatrics, Clinical Genetics, and serves as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School

 

An undergraduate of Radcliffe College, Dr. O'Brien received her Doctor of Medicine in 1979 from Tufts Medical School.  After medical school, she completed her residency in Pediatrics and a fellowship in Genetics, both at Boston Floating Hospital, New England Medical Center. 

 

She is a member of the ALPHA OMEGA ALPHA Medical Honor Society, a fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics, a member of the Teratology Society, American Society of Human Genetics and the MA Medical Society.  Her more than 20 original articles have in publications including Journal of Pediatrics, American Journal of Disabled Children, Rehabilitation Management, Clinical Pediatrics, Pediatric Rehabilitation, European Journal of Human Genetics, Pediatric Pulmonology, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Advance for Directors in Rehabilitation.
